Body Talk with your Teenage Daughter

 November 6th, 2017 at 5:30PM

1 in 3 teenage girls are withdrawing from classroom debate because the don’t want to draw attention to the way they look.*
1 in 5 girls will fail to show up to class at all on days they don’t feel good about themselves.*
When it comes to exams, if teenage girls perceive themselves as not “thin enough” on any particular exam day, they will score a lower grade point average than their peers who are not concerned with their looks.*
Teenage girls disproportionately struggle with body image and eating disorders, usually leading to a decrease in grades and self esteem. How do we, as parents, teachers, or mentors, best support the teenage girls in our lives? How do we talk to teenage girls about their bodies in a healthy, non harmful way? This workshop will explore teenage body image and how to best support the teenage girl in your life to gain the tools she needs to succeed.
