School-based Mentoring Groups

The impact Boys to Men had on me was stupendous.  It really showed me that there are people out there that are willing to help.Jeremiah

Every week committed mentor team gather in local schools and facilities to help boys build brotherhood, resilience, problem-solving skills, and emotional literacy. These boys also learn to support their classmates through their journey and struggles. These programs are proven to improve school attendance, reduce discipline problems, and build stronger connections between boys and school.

This part of our program is providing the fastest growing impact on our community. Our vision at Boys to Men Mentoring is to ensure that every middle and high school boy in Yavapai County has access to quality, in-school mentoring.

“Bringing BTM to our school has added an additional layer of support for students who need as much support as possible.  During the circles I have seen students who typically take very few things serious having meaningful conversations with their peers, opening up about themselves and others, and feeling valued.  This year we have expanded the program to include more boys and I look forward to seeing how it could grow in the future.”

“We recently had a 17 year old boy work in the Boys to Men program.  This boy had a severe substance abuse issue as a result of living in a violent home.  He has searched for a positive male role model and BTM has provided him with a safe place to voice his fears and provide stable relationships and positive role models to begin a new life.  Though this boy’s struggles are far from over, this program has certainly laid a foundation for positive changes to begin.  We have seen this scenario play out for several of the kids we serve.”
