Workforce Development Program

The Launch Pad Workforce Development Program empowers teens (ages 14–18) with real-world skills, hands-on experience, and opportunities to explore career paths. The program is structured into three progressive levels, helping youth grow from first-time job seekers to confident, skilled professionals ready for paid work and internships.

In order to work in the café, teens must complete all three levels.

Why it Matters

The Launch Pad Workforce Development Program gives teens:

  • Paid work experience
  • Professional skills and certifications
  • Leadership and teamwork opportunities
  • Confidence, financial independence, and career readiness

Completing all three levels prepares teens for future employment, education, and personal growth.

Program Levels

Project Launch — Introductory (3-Day Weekend)
Project Launch is a short, entry-level workshop where teens learn foundational workplace skills such as professionalism, communication, interviewing, and money management. This stage is ideal for youth with little or no prior work experience and serves as the first step toward paid positions or internships.

Brew to Crew Club — Intermediate (4 Weeks, 2x per week)
Brew to Crew Club is a small-group, hands-on program where teens gain café skills, including barista basics, customer service, kitchen safety, and teamwork. Participants also take part in field trips to local businesses and workshops to prepare for advanced employment opportunities.

Café Apprenticeship — Advanced & Paid (12 Months)
Teens who complete the first two levels may join the Café Apprenticeship, a paid position where they work in the café earning minimum wage plus tips. Apprentices gain real workplace experience in cash handling, customer service, food safety, and leadership. After six months, they may receive a raise and have opportunities to grow into shift-lead roles.

Internship Opportunities

Teens who have completed Project Launch or higher levels may also participate in internships with local organizations. These experiences allow teens to explore career fields, build professional skills, and connect with mentors. Current opportunities include:

  • City of Prescott (HR Department): Shadow staff, learn about hiring processes, and attend interviews.
  • Prescott Chamber of Commerce: Work in marketing, event planning, customer service, or media projects.
  • Yavapai Trails Association: Field and office work, including marketing, event planning, and outdoor projects (ages 16+; transportation required).
  • Highlands Center for Natural History: Summer field-based experiential learning, leadership, and public speaking opportunities.
  • Center for the Future of Arizona: Virtual internships with partner businesses, often including a stipend.
  • Deppeana, LLC: Opportunities in marketing, event planning, research, and customer service across multiple local businesses.

We are always seeking additional internship opportunities with local businesses. If your organization is interested, please reach out.
